What makes us different?
Experience.
We have over 24 years of international martial arts experience, which means that your training program is based on proven and safe methods.
Personal trainer - approach.
Our training groups are small and we use the same experienced instructors every time. This means that we know every one of our students well, including their training preferences, and together we will find the best ways to improve and learn.
“Boot camp” type exercise approach.
Many martial arts styles and studios do a light warm-up before their training session. Our motto is “strong body is the basis for good martial artists and a healthy life style”. Therefore, our training sessions include a lot of physical training that will make you sweat and build a strong and healthy body. You will feel great after each training session!
Variety.
Are you tired of repeating the same kicks, punchers, throws or ground techniques over and over again?
Hokutoryu Ju-Jutsu offers the widest variety of skills and techniques available including kicks, punches and strikes, take-downs, throws, chokes /strangulations, joint and body manipulation, joint locks, grappling, and defense against modern weapons.
And this is not all. We also include instruction in defensive release methods, tactics of self-defense (e.g. prevention, situation control, action-reaction, etc.), correct balance, body control, aggression handling, and we use shields and dummies to be able to train hard and to get a feel for real-life situations.
We also train in all possible distances/ranges: from weapons (long), to kicks and punches / strikes (closer), to take-downs and throws (even closer), to grappling and ground fighting.
Hokutoryu Ju-Jutsu is not a sport for points or trophies.
We train Ju-Jutsu because of our love to martial arts. We seek to improve our character, and to learn patience and respect. Physical exercise is an important part of our training because it helps to build healthy and strong bodies. But we also emphasize the importance of “mind power” and a right attitude to training and to all aspects of life.
Hokutoryu Ju-Jutsu does not teach aggression or violence.
Part of our training is to learn how to avoid, control and prevent violence from happening. But we also learn what to do if the prevention fails. You can best protect yourself with a proper level of awareness, when you are in a good physical condition, and when you have the best skills and techniques in your arsenal if they are needed.
